The Headland Benefice

About Us

The Headland Benefice lies on the cliff tops of the East Yorkshire coast between Filey and Bridlington. There are three parishes, Flamborough, Bempton (including the adjacent village of Buckton) and the combined parish of Reighton and Speeton.

The churches are very much at the centre of village life and are there for the glory of God and for everyone to use. As part of our expression of faith, we offer hospitality after services and at the many social events throughout the year. The highlights of the year include flower festivals in summer, harvest festivals, Remembrance, nativity on the hoof (with real donkey), and a Christingle service which brings together so many families to herald in Christmas. If you have a head for heights and a liking for early mornings, then the 7am Ascension Day service from the tower top, followed by bacon sandwiches, might be for you!

We have close links with the two schools in our Benefice, Flamborough CE (VC) Primary School and Bempton Primary School. Three of our congregation at St Oswald's are Foundation Governors at Flamborough School.
